Laboratory Engineer - Metallic materials

About the role:

As laboratory engineer at ESAB you will be part of a competent and committed R&D team where you will contribute to the development of future filler materials for welding. In the role, you will have a close dialogue with your colleagues and work with varied assignments and tasks linked to our quality system and different types of testing. Key responsibilities:

· Quality control and quality assurance (ISO 17025) of mechanical testing, including responsibility of the correctness of the testing methods and a deep understanding of test standards

· Mechanical testing, i.e. tensile and impact testing

· Metallographic sample preparation and testing

· Support in development, research and customer projects with investigations within the metallurgical and mechanical testing area

· Maintenance of the laboratory workshop and purchase of articles of consumption

· Take ownership of specific laboratory equipment and ensure operational readiness

· Select, adjust, and optimize testing methods for best results

· Stay updated with relevant international standards and testing procedures

· Write clear, structured reports in both Swedish and English

What we’re looking for:

· Relevant technical education in Metallurgy or Materials Engineering

· Strong theoretical and practical understanding of mechanical testing methods and metallographic analysis

· Experience in laboratory quality assurance and standards (ISO 17025)

· Prior technical experience in a relevant industry is an advantage

· High level of precision, analytical thinking, and structured work approach

· Strong customer focus and results-driven mindset

· Fluent in both written and spoken Swedish and English
