Your Mission
The principal mission of the Compliance Officer for Sweden-Finland/Nordics is to develop, implement, and administer all aspects of the company’s Compliance Management Program. The focus is on detecting and preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, and consumer fraud while meeting all consumer protection expectations and regulatory requirements for Ria’s operations as a money service business.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee the day-to-day compliance activities, including training Ria employees, agents, and partners, as well as members of the Board of Directors.
- Collaborate with senior management to administer compliance programs effectively and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Lead compliance efforts across the Nordics by providing guidance and support to Compliance Officers in Denmark and Norway.
- Liaise with Financial Supervisory Authorities, Financial Intelligence Units, and other regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to obligations.
- Manage and lead interactions with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits, maintaining compliance and clear communication.
- Periodically update the Board of Directors, senior management, and other personnel on emerging compliance issues, while establishing and enhancing risk controls.
- Implement an effective Compliance Risk Assessment Program to identify risks associated with regulatory environments, products, services, customers, operational locations, and delivery channels.
- Oversee initial and ongoing due diligence processes for onboarding prospects, agents, and partners in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Manage agent and partner visitation programs to ensure adherence to AML/ATF policies and oversee transactional activities for compliance.
- Supervise transaction monitoring functions and ensure timely review and reporting of suspicious activities by Compliance Analysts and local Compliance Officers.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of flagged transactions using advanced Excel techniques to detect unusual or suspicious activity when escalated.
- Develop and deliver effective AML/CTF training and continuing education programs for employees, senior management, and the Board of Directors.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure all regulatory reporting and business permit renewal requirements are met.
- Enforce risk management and mitigation strategies and communicate these processes effectively to the Board of Directors.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, industry trends, and best practices in financial services and AML/CTF sectors. Proactively integrate updates into the compliance program and enhance expertise through relevant courses, seminars, and conferences.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF), with deep knowledge of the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018.
- Strong understanding of compliance challenges within financial institutions and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
- Proven leadership experience, managing international teams and mentoring junior staff to foster professional growth.
- Ability to manage compliance-business relationships effectively, maintaining clear and collaborative communication.
- Transaction monitoring and AML/CTF experience, including advanced data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel.
- Fluency in Swedish and English (mandatory); proficiency in Finnish is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- An international profile with cultural awareness and adaptability.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Teams, OneDrive, PowerPoint).
- Technology-oriented with the ability to manage and improve various systems.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
